Bybiis el Putuki and her friend Opin the healer must work together to ensure that Opin’s gifts for healing aren’t turned against her.  This is harder than it seems with all the pressures of the khalif in Utica and the magical influences surrounding both characters.  As Bybiis gains control back for Opin, they can travel to be closer to Mrs. Shaw, a woman searching for a lost city.
